God our only Savior!

We can learn from the Bible and from the New World Translation that God is our Savior and that there is only one savior God who can save us from our sins.

- I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.” Isaiah 43:11

If we read Isaiah 43 in context we see that God is our Savior in many ways.

But when we continue to verse 25 we read "I, I am the One who is blotting out your transgressions for my own sake, And I will not remember your sins."

God teaches us through Isaiah that there is no savior besides Himself. God is the only one who can truly save us from sin, and forgive our sins.

In Mark 2:7, Luke 5:21, we read that only God can forgive sins.

Do you believe this?

- She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

- For today there was born to you in David’s city a savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

If Jesus was born to save us from our sins and is our Savior who is Christ the Lord, than it follows that he is also God.

Because Jehovah God says "besides me there is no savior" as already quoted above.

Likewise in Isaiah 45:5 we observe God saying  "I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. There is no God except me..."

So my friends when we continue to study the Bible; what more can we learn about the nature of God?

- Simon Peter, a slave and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have acquired a faith as precious as ours through the righteousness of our God and the Savior Jesus Christ:
May undeserved kindness and peace be increased to you by an accurate knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, for his divine power has granted us all the things that contribute to life and godly devotion through the accurate knowledge of the One who called us by his own glory and virtue.
2 Peter 1:1-3

We read in 2 Peter that it's important to our spiritual life to have an accurate knowledge of God and Jesus Christ.

Peter is also making NO distinction here between God and the Savior Jesus Christ.

Remember what we have read in the scriptures thus far throughout this article: besides Jehovah there is no savior.

It follows that Jesus is a Savior equal to God and God himself, since there is only one God.

Ask yourself; am I reading the scriptures openly and honestly? Or am I looking at them through the lense of the Governing Body?

Let us take what we've observed from the Bible itself and read this next passage in Luke.

- On one of those days while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the Law who had come out of every village of Galʹi·lee and Ju·deʹa and from Jerusalem were sitting there; and Jehovah’s power was with him to do healing.

And look! men were carrying a paralyzed man on a stretcher, and they were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.

So not finding a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they climbed up to the roof, and they lowered him on the stretcher through the tiling, right among those in front of Jesus.

When he saw their faith, he said: “Man, your sins are forgiven.”

Then the scribes and the Pharisees started to reason, saying: “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins except God alone?”

But Jesus, discerning their reasoning, said in answer to them: “What are you reasoning in your hearts?

Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?

But in order for you to know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins—” he said to the paralyzed man: “I say to you, Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go to your home.”

At that he stood up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went to his home, glorifying God.
Luke 5:17-25

What stands out to you in this passage?

We see Jesus in a crowd and a paralyzed man in desperate need of a Savior. Jesus knowing the mans needs, and having the power of Jehovah to heal the man, first tells him “Man, your sins are forgiven.”

Right away the Scribes and Pharisees notice and ask themselves how can Jesus forgive sins, knowing rightly so, only God can forgive sins.

It follows that Jesus is God since the first thing he did was forgive this mans sins, even when the passage begins with Jesus having the power to heal.

Why then is the first thing Jesus does is forgive the paralyzed man's sins?

Because, Jesus is revealing the truth about his nature as God. We know that Jesus has the authority to forgive sins, but if only God can forgive sins as the Bible tells us then this authority is God himself!

After that, Jesus heals the paralyzed man just by speaking his word to him saying "Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go to your home.”

No mere man can do this and say such things unless he is in truth God!

A further question we can ask ourselves after reading these Bible passages is...

How can Jesus save us from our sins if he isn't God?
