Is Jesus, Mighty God?

The Scripture that I am using here is from the New World Translation.

My emphasis added with underlining :)

Jesus, the child born to us is God!

- For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

- She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All of this actually came about to fulfill what was spoken by Jehovah through his prophet, saying:   “Look! The virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will name him Im·manʹu·el,” which means, when translated, “With Us Is God.” (Matt 1:21-23)

  • We know these verses are referring to Jesus, who is "the child born to us" to rule over us, and to save us from our sins. Yet this child has a name, "Mighty God"
  • They will name him (and we know this is referring to the child Jesus) Immanuel, which means "With Us Is God"

Since these names and titles can only be said about God and no one else, Jesus is God!

The Alpha and Omega (Greek for Beginning and End)

- “I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)

 - “‘Look! I am coming quickly, and the reward I give is with me, to repay each one according to his work. I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. (Revelation 22:12-13)

  • In Revelation chapter one we read God is Alpha and Omega (which means beginning and the end) yet Jehovah says that He is the one "who is coming" and every Christian knows that it is the person of Jesus who is coming.
  • In Revelation chapter 22 we see that Jesus is referred to as "Alʹpha and the O·meʹga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." How can Jesus also be the beginning and the end, first and the last unless He was God in the flesh?
  • We know Rev 22:12-13 is about Jesus using context clues in verse 16.
  • Again these are titles that can only be said of God, and not anyone else!

We can only conclude using these scriptures that the person of Jesus Christ is also Jehovah God.

Lord of Lords

- For Jehovah your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the God great, mighty, and awe-inspiring, who treats none with partiality and does not accept a bribe. (Deuteronomy 10:17)

- On his outer garment, yes, on his thigh, he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:16)

- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:5-6)

  • Jehovah God and the person of Jesus are both, Lord of Lords.
  • Jesus cannot be a lesser Lord than God who is Lord, because there can only be one Lord as it says in Ephesians 4:5 "one Lord, one faith, one baptism;"
  • When we put all this together we can only conclude that Jesus is God!

Do you believe what the bible tells us about who Jesus is?

Savior God

- However, when the kindness of our Savior, God, and his love for mankind were manifested (not because of any righteous works we had done, but because of his own mercy), he saved us by means of the bath that brought us to life and by making us new by holy spirit. He poured this spirit out richly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, (Titus 3:4-6)

- I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.” (Is 43:11)

  • In Isaiah Jehovah God says, "besides me there is no savior."
  • Therefore there is NO OTHER SAVIOR that can save us from our sins!
  • Both Jesus and Jehovah are equally "our Savior" in this divine sense.
  • No human being can save us from our sins, therefore Jesus has to be God in order to be Savior in this way.
  • "Jesus Christ our Savior" is the same Savior as God!

The bible makes no distinction between God our savior and Jesus our savior. I don't think we should either. Do you agree with this?

See me see The Father

- In answer Thomas said to him: “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him: “Because you have seen me, have you believed? Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.” (John 2:28-29)

- Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father also. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (John 14:9)

  • Thomas calls Jesus his Lord and his God!
  • Jesus doesn't rebuke Thomas but confirms what he is saying.
  • In John 14, Jesus himself tells Phillip, "whoever has seen me has seen the father also"
  • And how can this be unless seeing Jesus is seeing God in the flesh!

- because it is in him that all the fullness of the divine quality dwells bodily. (Colossians 2:9)

  • Likewise, all of the fullness of the divine God dwells bodily in Jesus, this makes him fully God and fully man.
You may want to reduce Jesus to the position of a mere man but The Scriptures shows us His unique role as God. Jesus is True God and True man, equal with Jehovah, our Lord and Savior. That is what the scriptures show and this is what we must believe.

Do you believe this?

Thank you Jesus!
